Ring Size: The Perfect Fit

You’ve put in all the planning, you’ve done all the research, and now you’ve finally decided on the ring you want to get.

But all those details aside, the cut of a diamond or style of a ring won’t matter much if it doesn’t fit correctly. Which is why ring size plays an important role from the beginning. It may seem obvious, but all too often rings are bought in the wrong size. Too big, and it’ll slip off.

There’s very little in this known world that hurts as much as losing a piece of valuable jewelry. Too small, and it’ll hurt. If you’ve ever lathered a finger with soapy water to pry off a ring you’ll know the frustration. And where resizing is always an option, it’s an added cost that’s totally avoidable if you just get the finger size right from the start.

Sizing it all up

There are different sizing standards in different countries. At ICKINGER we work according to British standard ring sizing. A popular sizing standard in South Africa is the alphabet method. This method entails each letter corresponding to an inner circumference in millimeters.
